style=\"font-size:22px\">I visited Polonnaruwa on Monday.<br>Heavy rain in Kandy, <br>and on all the valleys and paddy land&#8230;<br>as we go down to the eastern plains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:22px\">Polonnaruwa under trees<br>The path dips down to Gal Vihara&#8230;<br>Barefoot and undisturbed,<br>My feet in wet grass, wet sand&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"has-text-align-center has-luminous-vivid-orange-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Then the SILENCE of the extraordinary faces<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:22px\">I was knocked over with a rush<br>of relief and thankfulness<br>at the obvious clarity of the figures<br>and the fluidity of shape and line&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">I don&rsquo;t know  when in my life I have ever had<br>such a sense of beauty and spiritual validity<br>running together in one visit\u00e9 Polonnaruwa&#8230;<br>Pluie diluvienne sur Kandy,<br>Sur les vall\u00e9es et sur les rizi\u00e8res,<br>Tandis que nous descendons vers les plaines orientales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:22px\">Sous les arbres, Polonnaruwa.<br>Le chemin descend vers Gal Vihara&#8230;<br>Pieds nus et calme<br>Dans l&rsquo;herbe et le sable mouill\u00e9&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"has-text-align-center has-luminous-vivid-orange-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Alors vient le silence de ces extraordinaires visages&#8230;<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:22px\">Me voici submerg\u00e9 par une vague immense<br>De paix et de reconnaissance.<br>Evidence de la clart\u00e9 des just as a research scholar or even as an author.<br> I come as a pilgrim who is anxious to obtain not just information, not just \u201cfacts\u201d about other monastic traditions, but to drink from ancient sources of monastic vision and experience. <br>I seek not only to learn more about religion and about monastic life, but to become a better and more enlightened monk myself.<meta charset=\"utf-8\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:25px\"><em>Merton visited Gal Vihara
